Phosphoric Acid Transfer Pumps
Fertilizer-grade to food-grade — viscosity is the hidden variable.
Phosphoric acid anchors fertilizer manufacturing and appears in food, pharma and metal treatment. Commercial grades carry solids and vary widely in viscosity; pure hot phosphoric is more corrosive than its reputation suggests. Selection turns on concentration, temperature and solids content.
The pumping challenges
- Viscosity varies widely with concentration and temperature
- Commercial grades carry gypsum and other solids
- Hot, concentrated acid is aggressive to many alloys
- Solids content rules out close-clearance seal-less designs
Material options
PP for moderate concentrations and temperatures
PVDF for hot, concentrated duty
SS 316L metallic construction where appropriate
Technical considerations
- Solids content decides between magnetic drive (clean only) and sealed construction
- Viscosity correction applied to the duty point at selection
- Sump installations served by vertical long-shaft pumps with PP or SS wetted parts
- State whether the grade is fertilizer, technical or food
Honest limits: no pump material is universally compatible with every concentration and temperature of a chemical. Final selection is confirmed against your exact duty — that's why we ask before we quote.

FAQs
Common questions on this duty
For clean acid, yes — PVDF magnetic drive is an excellent zero-leak choice. But fertilizer-grade acid often carries gypsum solids, which foul the internal bearings of a mag drive. For solids-bearing duty we select a mechanical-seal PP/PVDF pump instead.
