Application Guide
Hot Oil Circulation Pumps (Thermic Fluid)
350 °C thermal oil with no cooling water — air-cooled by design.
Thermic fluid heaters and hot-oil systems in textile, chemical, plywood and food plants need circulation pumps that survive 250–350 °C continuously. Traditional water-cooled pumps add an auxiliary circuit that scales, leaks and fails; air-cooled construction removes it entirely.
The pumping challenges
- Continuous service at 250–350 °C
- Thermal oil degrades and carbonises at hot spots
- Water-cooled designs fail when the cooling circuit scales or starves
- Seal failure at temperature is a fire risk with thermal oil
Material options
Cast iron and ductile iron casings rated for temperature
Alloy steel internals for high-temperature duty
High-temperature mechanical seal arrangements
Technical considerations
- Air-cooled bearing housing needs no water circuit — one less system to maintain
- Pump speed and NPSH confirmed against actual oil viscosity at temperature
- Expansion and alignment reviewed for hot installations
- SG and viscosity of your specific thermic fluid stated at enquiry
Honest limits: no pump material is universally compatible with every concentration and temperature of a chemical. Final selection is confirmed against your exact duty — that's why we ask before we quote.

FAQs
Common questions on this duty
No cooling water circuit means nothing to scale, freeze, or starve — the classic failure of water-cooled hot-oil pumps. Our air-cooled pumps run to 350 °C with the bearing housing cooled by ambient air alone.
